Vijay Mane rated 5/5 2 years ago This is the family deity of the Bhosale royal family and the Yadavs.
The great Maratha king Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj always visited the temple to seek her blessings. It is said that Goddess gave him a sword for success in battles. The temple is located on the hill of "Bala ghat".
In this temple, the idol of the Goddess Tulja Bhawani is `swayambhu`(self evolved). Goddess Shri Bhavani is worshipped in the form of the a three-foot high granite image, with eight arms holding weapons, bearing the head of the slain demon Mahishasura.
There are two main entrances to get to the main temple. One is called the Raja Shahaji Mahadwar, and the other as Rajmata Jijavu main gate.
